Sylvania plans network

Sylvania aims to make more inroads in the Thai and Asean markets by launching a network of service centres and regional sales centres to improve service nationwide and throughout the region.

Under its expansion strategy, a network of Sylvania Service Centres will be opened to handle the needs of upcountry customers, while regional sales centres will be established to oversee business expansion throughout Southeast Asia as the Asean Economic Community is being fully implemented.

Poomthep Malakul Na Ayudhaya, general manager of Havells Sylvania (Thailand), the manufacturer and distributor of Sylvania lighting products, said that during the current second half of this year, the company planned to be even more aggressive in expanding both domestically and internationally.

"Domestically, we will initially launch four Sylvania Service Centres within the third quarter of the year. They will serve as major distribution, sales and service centres for Sylvania customers upcountry," Poomthep said.

"Internationally, last year we launched a number of 'profit centres'??? service centres in Malaysia and Indonesia. Now, we will expand our profit centres them to cover Vietnam, Laos and the Philippines.

"The centres serve as comprehensive sales and distribution centres in their respective markets. These overseas centres will be even more important when the Asean Economic Community comes into full swing.

"Overall, we are targeting an ambitious 30 per cent overseas sales increase this year," Poomthep said.

To keep up with this growth momentum, the company has announced a plan to expand customer bases both in Thailand and the broader Asean market.
