After Bang Na launch, SB Furniture plans design square next year

SB Furniture Industry Co has budgeted at least Bt1 billion to build an SB Design Square with 15,000 square metres of usable space next year after launching the SB Design Centre on Bang Na-Trat Road yesterday.

The company also will raise its furniture prices next year to accommodate the government's policy to increase the daily minimum wage to Bt300, which directly affects its production costs, marketing director Tanyaruck Chuwaldit told a news conference.

The company now has nine Design Squares in Bangkok and 32 branches in shopping centres, combined with HomePro, she said.

It expects its sales to grow 10-15 per cent this year from Bt5 billion last year. Up to 80 per cent of its sales are in the domestic market and the rest exports and residential projects.

Home-buyer behaviour has changed to buying furniture and home decorations at a design centre rather than a shopping centre, so the company has decided to expand under the Design Square concept.

The Bang Na Design Square is targeting sales of Bt300 million in its first year of operation after its grand opening this Saturday, Tanyaruck said.
