SET ends lower

The Stock Exchange of Thailand ended the day 10 points or 1.08 per cent lower, as investors fled the market ahead of weekend.

At the close, the index stood at 916.21 points, Turnover was Bt22.9 billion.

"They feared that they might react too slowly if anything unfavourable happens overseas today," said a trader.

In the morning, Thai shares head up slightly, as the world hailed Germany's overwhelming vote to boost the eurozone rescue fund and the US released positive growth and unemployment figures.

At midday, the e Stock Exchange of Thailand index stood at 927.08 points, 0.87 points or 0.09 per cent higher from the previous closing, on turnover of Bt10.47 billion.

"The market was volatile, waiting for new factors particularly solutions for the euro zone debts," Tisco Securities said in its research note.

Germany's vote boosted global stocks yesterday. Pressuring the outlook are expected massive recapitalisation of banks in Germany, France and the US next year as well as a possible recession in Europe and the US.

Tisco expects the SET index to move in the range of 870-990 points in October.
