Private sector seeks clarification on 4 issues

The Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking is calling for a discussion with Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra over four economic issues.

 Pongsak Assakul, chairman of Thai Chamber of Commerce, said after the meeting today that such discussion is crucial to help sail the economy out of problems. The committee will present a draft for the discussion.
 The issues in focus are;
 1. How Thailand should cope with spillover effects from the US and Europe.
 2. Post-flood rehabilitation process
 3. Thailand's long-term competitiveness in rice export, following the government's rice-pledging scheme
 4. Short and long-term impacts from the hike in minimum wage to Bt300 per day.
 The committee consists of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Thai Industries and Thai Bankers Association.
