“In the coming year, we are focusing on expanding our target audience base as well as advertiser base by developing TV programmes that are suitable for new audiences including university students and first-jobbers,” managing director Pattira Palawatvichai said yesterday.
YAAK-TV provides a variety of shows initially targeting teenagers. The Bt50-million station mainly features RS pop stars, including C-Quint, Zee, Rookie BB, Fay Fang Kaew and K-Otic.
Those TV shows are also rerun on the satellite platform, accounting for 60 per cent of overall airtime, while the rest is first-run shows.
However, the company expects to increase first-run offerings to 80 per cent within the first year, though in revenue terms the contributions of the two formats will be unchanged at 50 per cent evenly.
This will take YAAK-TV’s viewership to 8 million households next year, from 3.8 million now, with 60 per cent remaining teenagers and the rest young adults.
Revenue from sponsors including snack, beauty and electronic-product manufacturers is expected to increase to Bt100 million.
To support advertisers, Bt80 million will be spent on new TV programmes and events, such as dance and music contests, drama training and roadshows in 24 provinces throughout this year, Pattira said.
