Initial industrial damage claims at Bt20bn: OIC

Industrial plants in 7 industrial estates are insured for a total amount of Bt410.18 billion, according to the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC).
The 7 industrial estates include Rojana Industrial Park, Saha Rattana Nakorn Industrial Estate, Hi-Tech Industrial Estate, Bang Kradi Industrial Estate, Bang Pa-In Industrial Estate and Nava Nakorn Industrial Estate. Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Co Ltd and Sompo Japan Insurance (Thailand) are two insurance companies, which insure most of the plants.
Chantra Purnariksha, secretary-general of the office, said that initially, damage claims are estimated at Bt20 billion.
She said that the office is monitoring damage claim payments and ensuring that the insurance industry is in the perfect condition to shoulder the damage.
