Index lowest in 26 mths

The Thai Industries Sentiment Index (TISI) in September plunged to 90.7 and tends to fall further in October due to the severe flooding, according to the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI).

Chairman Payungsak Chartsuthipol said the index which fell lower 100 reflected the low confidence and concerns caused by the severe floods in many provinces.
The index, conducted through the survey of FTI members, was the lowest in the last 26 months.
The industrial sector is highly concerned with the floods which cover main industrial sites of the country. Moreover, this disrupts the logistics network. The volatile global economy only worsens the situation, Payungsak said.
