Makro feeds more products into stores

Siam Makro Plc has geared up to address a sharp increase in demand, particularly for drinking water. It joins hand with the Internal Trade Department to secure the supply of one million bottles of drinking water.

More than 400,000 bottles are now available at Makro stores in Bangkok. The one million mark will be accomplished early next week from over 15 upcountry sources such as Hat Yai, Surat Thani, Nakhon Sawan, Ubon Ratchathani and Khon Kaen. Makro has also contracted supply of about 500,000 bottles per week of ‘Aura’ mineral drinking water from Mae Rim.

The cash-and-carry wholesaler also promised that supply of goods will stream into its stores without disruption to meet specific demands by flood-affected people in Bangkok and upcountry.

Pariyanuch Na Taguatung, marketing director of Siam Makro, said that demand for eggs went up two-fold, mainly from Makro members in the core group of small retailer shop, hotel, restaurant, and catering businesses. “We are selling local supply of eggs and our suppliers are part of the Eggs Producers Association. And in line with the Commerce Ministry’s policy, the first imported batch of 600,000 eggs from Malaysia will arrive late this week.”  It also wins assurance from suppliers of no shortage of canned fish, rice, and instant noodles.

“Makro will make an all-out effort to adequately meet the demand and distribute consumer and consumption goods to every region, particularly flood-ravaged areas. All stores throughout the country will remain open even in the flooding areas” Pariyanuch said.
