Samart upbeat on Q3 results

Samart Corp's performance in the third quarter is not likely to be affected by the flood disaster because it has already clinched several contracts from the state sector.

Samart president Watchai Vilailuck said the state contracts were expected to contribute mostly to the group’s total third-quarter revenues. The group’s business ranges from handset sales to providing information and communications technology (ICT) solutions to state agencies.
The Loxley-Samart consortium won a Bt15.99-billion deal from TOT in April for rolling out the 3G network nationwide. In August, Samart Comtech signed a contract with the Defence Ministry’s Office of the Permanent Secretary to provide equipment for the extension of the first phase of its communications network worth more than Bt447 million. Samart Comtech is a subsidiary of Samart Telcoms, which comes under Samart Corp.
Samart is also waiting to sign a Bt1.4-billion deal with the Provincial Electricity Authority to provide automatic metre readers.
