Nod to rehab plans

The government will spend Bt147 million to carry out four projects as part of efforts to rehabilitate industry.
Industry Minister Wannarat Charnnukul said yesterday that a government committee in charge of rehabilitating industry approved four of 10 proposed projects.
In the first approved project, the government will spend Bt15.84 million to drain flood waters from industrial estates. In the second project, the government will spend Bt25 million on checking the environment, including water and soil at industrial parks.

Mills recruit workers
Forty-seven sugar millers nationwide are recruiting more than 10,000 workers to relieve the increase in flood-driven unemployment.
Sirivuthi Siampakdee, vice executive chairman of Thai Sugar Miller Co, said yesterday that companies in the sugar-cane and sugar industry recognised the unemployment problem, so they should take part in helping the country by giving jobs to these workers. The workers are offered temporary jobs for the 2011 milling season, which runs from November to April.

‘Blue Sky’ for victims
Krungsri First Choice has introduced the “Fa Lung Fon” (Blue Sky after the Storm) campaign to assist flood victims.
Advantages include zero- or low-interest rates offered to cardholders for paying instalments on necessities and a cash back-up to Bt6,000.
