Thailand's Intellectual Property Department and Japan Patent Office have launched measures to aid Thailand-based companies' intellectual property registration.

In a statement, the Intellectual Property Department will extend the registration period by 15 days, with written requests. This applies to Thai companies and local arms of overseas companies.
Meanwhile, Japan Patent Office also extends the registration period. According to announcement posted on  http://www.jpo.go.jp/cgi/linke.cgi?url=/torikumi_e/hiroba_e/thailand_turkey_2011.htm, JPO urges for prompt contacts from companies affected by Thailand floods and Turkey earthquake which find it difficult to carry out the procedures for patent, utility model, design or trademark applications or trials pending at the JPO within the designated time limit.
