Bt18.4bn budget sought to recover Don Mueang Airport, schools, roads
A government committee tasked to resuscitate floods-affected infrastructure is asking for a budget of Bt18.44 billion to recover the Don Mueang Airport, schools and roads.
The proposal, reached after the meeting today, would be submitted to the Cabinet on Nov 15.
"Don Mueang Airport would be recovered within 60 days after the water recedes to allow transportation of equipment," said Transport Minister Sukampol Suwannathat, as chairman of the committee. The work will cover runways, the parking bay, the terminal 1 and the office building.
The committee also concluded 708 reconstruction projects for the road network, linking the Central region with the North and the Northeast. The reconstruction of main roads is expected to take no more than 3 months, starting from December, while a 9-month timeframe is proposed for the linking networks.
On the reconstruction list are also 799 schools in 34 provinces.
