More tax benefits for infrastructure funds

The Cabinet on Tuesday resolved to waive witholding taxes on infrastructure funds' dividends for a period of 10 years.

It also waives the funds from value-added taxes, special business tax and stamp duty, incurred by the transfers of infrastructure investment to the funds.
"The resolutions will promote long-term funding for infrastructure projects. (On witholding tax waiver), this will increase investors' return and entice more investment to the funds," said Securities and Exchange Commission Secretary-General Vorapol Socatiyanurak.
The SEC has put in place the criteria for infrastructure fund establishment. A fund could be established to finance the investment in a power plant, valued at least Bt500 million.
