Lower growth for retail business: Research

The retail business should achieve growth of 6-7 per cent this year if the flooding can be drained off shortly, according to Kasikorn Research Centre.

The earlier forecast is 8.5-10 per cent.
To maintain this momentum, retailers should perhaps focus on marketing activities, like promotional campaigns and home repair advisory services, to boost consumer spending. Meanwhile, the government should lend a hand with accelerated budgetary disbursements for repairs and renovation, which would also help create jobs for workers displaced by flooding damage.
