Former CAT senior executive vice president Kittisak Sriprasert is expected to contend for this top job, the source added. The board will consider next week the resignation of Jirayuth, which he reportedly tendered recently. Jirayuth could not be reached for comment on the matter. There is also a report that some state banks have invited him to sit on their boards.
When asked by the media yesterday whether Jirayuth’s resignation could affect CAT’s agreement with True Corp group to collaborate on developing third-generation wireless broadband business, True CEO Supachai Chearavanont said he did not think so. CAT and True group next week will discuss amending their contracts for joint development of 3G business to bring them in line with the national broadcasting and telecom watchdog’s anti-monopoly regulations.
