GMM Grammy is appealing to the broadcasting regulator for another year to operate its FM106.5 Green Wave radio station.

The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) decided last week not to renew the contracts of firms – including GMM Grammy’s subsidiary A-TIME Media – that jointly develop programming for its nine radio frequencies. Green Wave is one of those radio stations.
On Monday, the NBTC’s broadcasting committee extended the contracts for six months to give those firms time to prepare for leaving to another radio station to run their business.
Then NBTC staff can prepare the outline for the nine radio frequencies during the six months if the NBTC agrees with this solution today.
However, Paiboon Damrongchaitham, chairman of GMM Grammy, said yesterday that his company needed a suitable period during this transformation without any dead air.
