BOI Fair: First opportunity

The Industry Ministry will use the BOI Fair, the first big investment-related event after the flood disaster, to restore confidence in the Kingdom as about 500 top executives of international companies that have invested here join the event, said Industry

He said the fair, which will be held from January 5-20, would be a good opportunity for the government to boost investor confidence after the floods hit many major industries such as automotive and electronics.
The BOI Fair was to have taken place from November 10-25 at Impact Muang Thong Thani, but it was postponed to January as the flood water hit many areas of Bangkok.
Wannarat said the event would include a forum discussing the global economic outlook in 2012 and the government’s measures to prevent flooding in the future.
The Industry Ministry plans to invite former leaders from other countries to take part in the event as well, as it believes such people could help boost confidence among investors.
Atchaka Sibunruang, secretary-general of the Board of Investment (BOI), said the CEO Forum, an important part of the BOI Fair, would include about 500 executives from companies around the world, higher than the previous plan of 400.
The BOI had earlier planned to invite only executives of companies that have invested more than Bt1 billion in Thailand. Now the criterion has been changed to include companies that have investments in the country and those who are likely to invest here, she said.
