7 industrial estates tap Bt5bn loans

The operators of all seven inundated industrial estate have asked for a total funding of Bt5 billion from the Government Savings Bank, for the construction of flood barriers.

Lersak Julates, president of the bank, said today that all need to submit the construction plans in detail and retrieve the fund within January or the new barriers would not be completed before the arrival of next year's rainy season.
All are entitled to 0.01 per cent interest rate per annum throughout the 7-year tenor, thanks to the government's interest subsidy programme - one of the measures to assure the business community.
While the bank has prepared to lend Bt15 billion, the seven industrial estates have demanded only Bt5 billion.
According to Lersak, Bangpa-in Industrial Park shows the most progress in its plan. Asking for a Bt700 million loan, the industrial estate plans a barrier around the 2,000-rai area. Its construction plan, having Japan International Cooperation Agency as advisor, was submitted to the bank.
Rojana Industrial Park, asking for Bt2 billion, has Ch Karnchang as the advisor for the construction of barriers for its 6,700-rai area.
Bangkadi Industrial Park and Saha Rattana Nakorn are in the final stage to examine the construction plans.   Nava Nakorn Industrial Estate, Factory Land are Hi-Tech Industrial Park are under rehabilitation process.
The bank is also paying out Bt5,000 aid to flood victims on behalf of the government. Until Dec 12, it has paid out the relief fund to 650,000 households, or 73 per cent of the 900,000 as summarised by the Flood Relief Operations Centre.
