PTT wins more E&P licenses in Burma

PTT Group is expanding it's presence in Burma, awarded the exploration and production licenses for two more petroleum blocs.

Energy Minister Pichai Naripthaphan said today that PTT Exploration & Production Plc (PTT) won the licenses for the two blocs. It submitted bids for three blocs.
"Burma has shown high potential on natural gas. It just discovered waste gas which could produce feedstock for the petrochemical industry. Thailand has proposed assistance in this development, in return for more licenses for exploration and production," he said.
Burma now supplies about one fourth of natural gas consumption in Thailand.
