A Germany-funded project ends

The Thai-German Programme for Enterprise Competitiveness (T-G PEC) has come to a close after eight years.

Undertaken by German International Cooperation (GIZ), the  programme was initiated to improve the competitiveness of Thai small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the palm oil, shrimp, fruit and vegetables, mulberry (saa) paper, and tapioca sectors.
According to GIZ, participating SMEs have markedly improved their productivity and product quality, resulting in better export opportunities.  Moreover, the programme has promoted energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources which help to reduce greenhouse gas emission levels and lessen their associated environmental impact.
T-G PEC was operational for eight years from 2004 to 2011 and was financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The Thailand International Development Cooperation Agency (TICA) has been active in coordinating programme activities on the Thai side.
