Index Creative Village to build Burmese partnership

Event organiser Index Creative Village plans to form a joint venture with Burma's leading media and entertainment company, Forever Group, during the next quarter to create new events for the local business and government sectors, as well as to support Th

“After we successfully cooperated with Forever Group in organising the Myanmar Academy 2010 Awards on Tuesday, both companies are preparing to hold Union Day for the Burmese government this Sunday,” said Index Creative Village co-CEO Kriengkrai Kanchanapokin.
He said his company had learned how to seek the best combination of traditional shows and new techniques, including mapping design, light-and-sound arrangement and general management.
The Myanmar Academy 2010 Awards, which was hosted by the Information Ministry, is an example of an upper-standard show organised using such a combination, he said, adding that the highlight of the event was a traditional performance and laser video display with a light-and-sound arrangement and LED (light-emitting diode) screen.
Meanwhile, Winn Maw, chief executive officer of Forever Group, said this year his company would focus on event management to boost revenue, particularly from selling live-performance and concert tickets.
These types of show could improve its free-to-air and pay-TV ratings among local audiences, he said.
Forever Group is also keen on show business and marketing events because local and overseas companies in Burma want to promote their products and services as well as build brand image through such events, he said.
“We need new creative ideas and technical and technological support from Index Creative Village and its subsidiary, Media Vision,” Winn Maw added. Kriengkrai expects Bt20 million to Bt30 million in revenue from technical support services and the renting of exported equipment at Media Vision this year, on the back of the planned formation of the joint venture with its new strategic partner in Burma during the second quarter.
For example, next year the country will host the 27th Southeast Asian Games in Naypyidaw, while in 2014 Burma will be become the rotating chairman of Asean, which will mean the holding of many official regional meetings in the country.
He said the partnership formed part of Index Creative Village’s strategy to drive the proportion of overseas business in the next three years to 20 per cent of revenue, or Bt100 million.
Besides expanding in Burma, the firm plans to organise a number of events in Vietnam, Malaysia and Indonesia.
