BAY senior debentures rated "AA-"

Bank of Ayudhya's Bt20 billion senior unsecured debentures won the "AA-" rating from Tris Ratings (Thailand).

The bank plans the issuance of debentures with maturity of upto three years. The proceeds will be used for general corporate purposes.
Tris said in a statement that the rating is based on its standalone financial position, robust performance, strong capital position and continued improvement of asset quality. It also considers BAY’s greater use of wholesale funding, relative to similarly rated peers, to better match its asset profile. The fifth largest commercial bank controlled an 8 per cent market share in loans and deposits at end-2011.
The issuance followed the moves by Kasikornbank and Siam Commercial Bank to raise Bt42 billion through debentures.
