KTB unit expands cash-transport service

KTB General Services Co targets 20-per-cent growth in revenue from its cash-in-transit service this year by doubling the contribution from customers besides Krung Thai Bank to 20 per cent and implementing productivity |measures.

"Our key drivers are expansion in all services, especially providing cash-in-transit service to other financial institutions and our major customer KTB, and efficiency improvement through information technology. The requirements of this service are safety and punctuality," managing director Dumrong Kaewprasith said yesterday.

Currently 90 per cent of its revenue comes from KTB, its parent.

Last year the company posted Bt1.67 billion in revenue and expects Bt2 billion this year.

About 60 per cent of its revenue comes from cash-in-transit management and restocking automated teller machines. The rest is from other services including building management and printing solutions for financial institutions and commercial banks. The company has started applying solutions that use mobile phones to manage and maintain ATMs nationwide and also use radio-frequency identification (RFID) and the Global Positioning System to track cash-in-transit vehicles in real time.

"This is the year for applying our IT solutions to improve efficiency for customers," Dumrong said.

The company will also focus on cost saving through employee input.

"We always encourage staff to help initiate projects to lower costs."

Through employee participation, the firm succeeded in reducing costs by Bt28 million last year.

It increased its market share to 34 per cent in 2011 from 31 per cent in 2010, mainly by providing its cash-in-transit management services to 18 banks including TMB Bank and the Government Savings Bank.
