AIS Book Store offers e-daily newspapers

The Nation has tied up with Advanced Info Service's online bookstore to allow AIS customers to subscribe to leading English-language e-daily newspapers.

AIS has also teamed up with other publications in Nation Group including Krungthep Turakij and Kom Chad Luek.

The service became available via AIS Book Store yesterday.

Initially, AIS is collaborating with Nation Group and Watta Group for customers to subscribe for daily newspaper membership, which will also entitle them to read the latter’s Lokwannee.

AIS customers using smart mobile devices on the iOS and Android operating systems, with the AIS Book Store application, can now purchase daily papers at the inclusive membership price or the regular price, starting from Bt29 a week.

Last July, the telecom operator launched AIS Book Store, now the country’s major such business, in cooperation with leading publishers. This enabled customers to download e-magazines and e-pocketbooks.

The store currently has 157 book and magazine titles from 105 publishers.

Pratthana Leelapanang, AIS vice president for value-added service business, yesterday said the online bookstore witnessed about 300,000 book downloads per month, a level that is expected to double this year.

The growth in online book demand is in line with the expansion of smart mobile devices, including tablets. AIS estimates 5 million smart phones will be sold in Thailand this year, while the number of tablet users is expected to exceed a million, up from about 500,000 last year.

AIS has more than 33 million mobile-phone subscribers, of whom 10 million are active wireless data users.
