Expanding Nahm eyes Asean sales

Nahm Sanitaryware Co is investing Bt200 million to expand its production capacity from 500,000 pieces to 900,000 this year to capture more of the Asean market.

“Half of our products will be under the Nahm brand and half the V&B brand,” Sumet Indamra, vice president of marketing and exports, told a news conference yesterday. The company is gearing up for the Asean Economy Community (AEC) in 2015, he said.
The company raised its prices by 3-5 per cent this month after its production costs jumped about 30 per cent because of the hike in the minimum daily wage to Bt300 in several key provinces.
After Villeroy & Boch took a major stake in Nahm in 2008, the German company selected Nahm as its production base for the Asean market. The Nahm brand will focus on the middle market and V&B on the middle to upper market.
The company targets total sales to grow 15 per cent this year from Bt400 million last year. Half of sales will come from the retail market and the other half from property projects.
