“Thailand is one of the potential markets in Asia and has comprehensive medical services, which are able to support the Cigna Global Health Benefits plan,” Ken Vaughan, managing director of the Asia-Pacific region for the global plan, said yesterday.
Thailand also has a large population of expatriates and globally mobile Thais.
Cigna has not set a target for policyholders or premiums in the first year because the product is new.
“We should wait and see how the market reacts to the product in order to adjust benefits and what the customer requires before targeting sales for the next year,” he said.
Thailand is the fifth market in the region where the product has been introduced, following China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia.
