Thai market remains under selling spree

Foreign investors remained net-sellers in the Stock Exchange of Thailand, with today's net-sells of Bt1.13 billion.

Sell-offs in the last three trading days turned their position to net-buyers to net-sellers in May. Month to date, the value of stocks sold outpaced the value of purchases by Bt5.98 billion.
Year to date, they remained net-buyers, with net-buy positions at Bt77.97 billion, according to Stock Exchange of Thailand's data.
The SET Index today ended in a positive area, thanks to retail investors with net-buy position at Bt2.5 billion.
The index gained 0.36 points or 0.03 per cent to end the week at 1,191.01 points, on turnover of Bt38 billion.
During the day, the index slid to as low as 1,179.80 points. It hit 1,195.70 points but could not manage to return to the 1,200-points psychological level.

Lack of good news in the country and increasing uncertainty in the eurozone are cited as the main reason for foreign sell-offs.

Greece's wrangling politicians were locked in last-ditch efforts to form a coalition government Friday, with chances of a deal appearing slim and the country's future in Europe's common currency at stake. Opposition against austerity measures was also witnessed at other countries like Spain where unemployment rate is as high as 24 per cent.
