Six more charged over GEN losses The Securities and Exchange Commission has filed charges against six more directors and executives at General Engineering (GEN), for negligence causing damage to the company.

They are chairman ML Thotsuwan Thongthaem, managing director Premchai Kusonroekdi, Apinanthakan Pongsathabordee, Sarunya Sawangwongchinsri, Kiatkong Samrejprasong and Wisadja Kotchasena.
In a statement, the SEC said that yesterday it filed the charges at the Department of Special Investigation, accusing the six of violating the Securities and Exchange Act’s Article 281/2.
All except Wisadja ratified GEN’s investment in shares and warrants of P Plus P, now Aqua Corp Plc, before submitting the matter for the board of director’s approval.
Taking such action without proper care led to investment loss for GEN, the SEC said. Wisadja, as accounting manager, also failed to act in the company’s best interests, it said.
On April 23, the SEC filed similar charges against CEO Amnat Tankuriman, Chai Bunnag and Kittichai Khiewkham.

BBL raises lending growth target
Bangkok Bank’s loan growth outperformed expectations in the first quarter of the year, convincing the country’s largest bank to revise upward by 2-3 per cent its target from 6-8 per cent.
Executive vice chairman Deja Tulananda said the bank expects loan growth this year to exceed 10 per cent thanks to investments by corporate customers. The bank has relied on corporate customers rather than retail because the latter segment has seen serious competition from medium-sized banks.
