Balance-sheet warning
The Business Development Department has warned entrepreneurs to submit balance sheets to the department within this month; otherwise, they will subject to a Bt50,000 fine.
Deputy Commerce Minister Siriwat Kajornprasart said that only 30 per cent of enterprises normally submit their balance sheet to the department. This year, the department is targeting balance-sheet submissions from 90 per cent of registered firms.
Under the Accounting Act, every company must submit its balance sheet to the department by May 31 each year.
If they cannot meet the deadline, firms are subject to a fine ranging from Bt20,000 to Bt50,000.
Moreover, the department yesterday launched the anti-corruption centre’s hotline 1570 to receive complaints from the public about non-transparent practices by government officials. The hotline will be operated 24 hours a day. – The Nation
