National airline's union questions chairman

Thai Airways International's labour union, led by its chairwoman Jamsri Sukchotirat, today submitted a petition to Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong, demanding further clarification over the dismissal of THAI president Piyasv

In the petition, which was sent to the ministers of finance and transport, they urged the ministers to have THAI Chairman Ampon Kittiampon clarify the dismissal to employees.
Jamsri was seen with about 50 THAI employees.
She said that this followed Ampon’s absence from the press conference on Friday. Then, acting president Chokchai Panyayong showed up with a statement and no questions were asked. Refusing to explain this to employees would only stir doubts, she added.
On the day, Chokchai did not reveal much beyond the conflicting opinion of the board of directors and Piyasvasti over new aircraft acquisition method.
THAI’s board last Monday announced the surprise dismissal of Piyasvasti, who was praised for the airline’s financial turnaround as well as transparent management practices.
