The agreement represents another important milestone, Amata B. Grimm said in a statement.
Sumitomo Rubber (Thailand) is one of the largest automotive tyre manufacturers in the world, and by purchasing electricity and steam from Amata B.Grimm Power, Sumitomo Rubber (Thailand) will significantly reduce its carbon dioxide emission by over 133 million kg per year.
The signing of the agreement comes shortly after Amata B.Grimm Power Group held a foundation stone laying ceremony for the Amata B.Grimm Power (Rayong) 1 and Amata B.Grimm Power (Rayong) 2 power plants earlier this year. The cogeneration combined cycle plants, with a total generating capacity of over 240 MW, are scheduled to begin commercial operation in November and in June 2013 respectively.
The construction of Amata B.Grimm Power 3 Cogeneration Combined Cycle Plant, the Group’s third power plant in Amata Nakorn Industrial Estate in Chonburi, is due to be completed this year and commercial operation will commence in September. In addition to the projects currently under development, Amata B.Grimm Power plans to invest in three more power plants in Amata City Industrial Estate, as well as another seven plants in various industrial estates around the country. By 2019, Amata B.Grimm Power Group will be operating a total of 16 SPP power plants in 6 industrial estates, serving clean and reliable energy to over 800 industrial customers.
