DSI to discuss BTS case tomorrow

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI)'s investigators and prosecutors on special cases will convene tomorrow, to review Bangkok Metropolitan Administration's claim that it is empowered to renew the skytrain contract.

DSI chief Tarit Pengdit said that the officials will consider whether to call for further clarification from the Bangkok governor and representatives from Krungthep Thanakom Co Ltd and Bangkok Transit System Co (BTSC).
BMA recently extended the skytrain operating contract and awarded the management of extended routes to BTSC without opening a bid. The Interior Ministry recently charged that BMA was not empowered to do so.
According to Tarit, for fairness, all parties should be invited to clarify if the actions are legitimate.
