Charoen Limkangwanmongkol, chief commercial officer of True Online, said yesterday that the firm would invest about Bt8 billion to lay down infrastructure for this year and next year so that it could expand into the corporate market upcountry.
It will cover 36 provinces this year and 61 provinces next year before going nationwide.
The company will also focus on its corporate customers in the hotel, hospital, education and real-estate industries.
It now can provide Internet international gateway and True Internet Gateway services to customers for international access at 60 gigabits per second.
"We have major competitors, 3BB and TOT, in the upcountry market. However, the upcountry market has high potential, since it is a start-up market.
"The firm will utilise network infrastructure and one-stop services to expand its customer base upcountry," said Vasu Khunvasi, general manager of True Internet.
Revenue from the firm’s Internet services is divided into Bt1.5 billion from corporate services and Bt7 billion from consumer services. Bangkok will contribute 85 per cent and the provinces 15 per cent of revenue this year.
True Internet has 3,000 active corporate users or about 35 per cent of about 9,000 active users nationwide.
The overall corporate Internet market is expected to grow 12 per cent this year.
