SET succeeds with roadshow to US

The Stock Exchange of Thailand witnessed the successful result of roadshow to 4 major US cities, aimed at offering new investment options to institutional investors and luring more investment to the Thai bourse.

According to SET President Charamporn Jotikasthira, the institutional investors, while expressing interest in pouring investment into the Stock Exchange of Thailand, had placed special attention on "sustainability" of listed companies and urged the exchange to put its emphasis on the issue. He said that the exchange has recently completed the sustainability manual for listed companies as well as corporate responsibility manuals.

During June 25-29, the exchange hosted a roadshow to four cities in the US - Boston, New York, Chicago and San Francisco - in cooperation with Asia Credit Securities and BNP Paribas. Joining the roadshow themed "SET US Road Show: Riding Thailand's Urbanisation Wave" were 8 listed companies. This is the first time that Thailand hosted a roadshow outside Boston and New York.

"In this roadshow, we offered investment options to institutional investors and received overwhelming interest. This marks a good sign that the investors are ready to return to Thailand. Most of the questions asked were about the current condition of the stock exchange, liquidity, and listed companies' earning growth and financial health. Worrying them now are the negative impacts from the euro zone crisis," he said.

"We have assured them that in the past 7 years, despite negative factors, listed companies have demonstrated continued growth in earnings. Moreover, we also updated them on the Asean Link."
