The company also unveiled brand-new Liverpool jerseys for the forthcoming 2012-13 Barclays Premier League season. More than 5,000 Liverpool FC jerseys have been imported into Thailand for the first shipment, to be retailed for Bt2,590 each.
Warodom Pranbunpook, vice president for distributor and licensee brand inventory management, said CRC Sports currently held the distribution rights for nine branded sports products.
These are Crocs, New Balance, K-Swiss, Skechers, Wilson, Umbro, Fila, Salomon, and the latest one, Warrior Sports, a subsidiary of Boston-based New Balance, notable for ice-hockey and lacrosse equipment.
The company decided two years ago to diversify from being only a sport retailer into other related businesses, by becoming the local distributor and licensee for major sport brands that are No 1 in their category.
Warodom said New Balance was the No 1 brand of running shoes in the United States, while Wilson was No 1 in tennis equipment. Umbro is the top brand in team-wear soccer products, Skechers in family shoes, and K-Swiss for casual footwear.
“Acquiring a six-year deal to enter the football industry for the first time, Warrior has become the Liverpool Football Club’s kit supplier from the start of the 2012-13 Barclays Premier League season onwards,” he said.
“The brand vendor has also appointed CRC Sports as its exclusive licensee for distributing Liverpool FC jerseys along with other related products in Thailand.
“By owning the distribution right for Liverpool FC jerseys and related products in Thailand, we are able to cash in on the great potential of more than 15 million Liverpool fans domestically. We aim at achieving Bt50 million in sales of Liverpool FC products by the end of this year,” he added.
The company is confident in the potential of Warrior Sports and the Liverpool FC, which was founded in 1892 and is one of the world’s most famous and prosperous football clubs.
It has won many league titles, including the FA Cup seven times, the League Cup seven times, the European Cup five times, the Uefa Cup three times, the European Super Cup three times, and the Charity Shield 15 times.
Also, Liverpool FC has a number of world-class players of whom Thai soccer enthusiasts are fans, including Steven Gerrard, Pepe Reina, Luis Suarez, Martin Skrtel and Craig Bellamy.
Those who are big fans of Liverpool will be excited with the new Liverpool retro-look all-red jersey and many other products for the new season under the Warrior brand.
