The group, which has six brands in its portfolio, will open a Radisson Blu hotel in Bangkok next year and one in Hua Hin in 2015. These will be the second and third Radisson Blu properties in Thailand; the first one is in Phuket, Radisson Blu Plaza Resort.
Andre de Jong, the group’s senior director of operations for Asia and the Pacific, said Thailand was one of the most important tourism markets in the region, which meant business opportunities for the company.
Carlson Rezidor’s six hotel and resort brands are Radisson, Radisson Blu, Park Plaza, Park Inn by Radisson, Country Inns & Suites by Carlson, and Hotel Missoni. They offer service ranging from medium-class to luxury accommodation.
Radisson Blu is a fast-growing brand in the Asia-Pacific region. Of its 346 properties in operation or under development, 69 are in this region. The brand is positioned as five-star. Its hotels are in key cities such as New Delhi, Cebu, Shanghai and Sydney.
The group placed a foothold in Thailand in 2007 with the launch of Park Plaza, on Sukhumvit in Bangkok. It now has a total of four properties in the Kingdom.
It plans to expand its existing brands locally and also introduce new ones.
