The floatation of LPG price for transport and household use would raise the price by 20-30 per cent from now and this would increase inflation in the last four months of this year by 0.037 percentage point, said the top Commerce Ministry official.

Commerce Permanent Secretary Yanyong Phuangrach said that this would also raise next year's inflation by 0.11 percentage point.
He noted that the government needs to come up with measures to facilitated the affected households. He suggested that the government first float the cooking gas price for transportation use, as that accounts for only 20 per cent of total consumption.

For household use, the price change should be activated step by step, to minimise impacts on the general public particularly food vendors. He said that the higher gas price on this group would raise their product price by 0.24-0.25 percentage point, or about 25 satang per dish.
