Soft loan scheme reaches over 500,000 victims

Over 500,000 flood victims have received financial assistance under the Bank of Thailand's soft loan scheme.

Suchada Kirakul, a deputy governor of the BOT, said that since March 12, the central bank has allocated Bt210 billion to financial institutions participating in the scheme.
Though the BOT has extended full amount permitted by law, the participating institutions still can relend the amount repaid by existing customers, she said.
Under the scheme, participating financial institutions contribute the remaining Bt90 billion. Totally, Bt300 billion has been extended to SMEs and individual flood victims.
