Viboon Kromadit, director and chief operating officer of Amata Corporation, said the IEAT advised AJE Group, the producer of Big Cola, to reopen the plant. The operator will have to submit daily reports on wastewater treatment to the IEAT and Amata. If the mistake is repeated, the company could face the maximum punishment of plant closure.
The integrated plant on 4,500 square metres was ordered to close down temporarily three days ago because it discharged excessive wastewater in violation of the Industrial Estate Act, resulting in possible damage to the environment.
AJE Group had been warned several times over the issue and was urged to make improvements to conform with amended Article 39 of the act on the standards of the wastewater it discharged into the treatment well. However, the company did not implement serious changes.
Viboon said actions of this sort could hurt Amata’s image given current concerns over environmental responsibility.
