SET plans roadshow in London

After a series of roadshows, including the one in China in September, the Stock Exchange of Thailand is hosting another in London during Oct 10-11.

In cooperation with Phatra Securities and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, the "Thai Investor Forum" is set as a meeting place for top executives of 9 listed companies and institutional investors.

The roadshow is hosted at the time when the SET Index made a series of new 16-year highs. Today, it also closed at another 16-year high, at 1,311.35 points. The market gained 4.72 points or 0.36 per cent from the previous closing, on turnover Bt38 billion.
"We're honoured to have Deputy Transport Minister Chatchart Sithipan on this roadshow, as he would update investors of Thailand's infrastructure investment which will enhance the Kingdom's competitiveness," said Virathai Santiprapop, vice president of the exchange. "In the past three years, the Thai market has been one of the best performers in the world. But the future lies on the country's competitiveness, and infrastructure investment is now the focus."
Joining the roadshow are Bangchak Petroleum, Central Pattana, Charoen Pokphand Foods, Khon Kaen Sugar, Minor International, PTT Exploration and Production, PTT Global Chemical, Thai OIl and Ticon Industrial Connection. Their combined market capitalisation is Bt1.4 trillion.
So far this year, the exchange has hosted a number of international roadshows in Singapore, Hong Kong, the US, Malaysia, Canada and China, aside from "Thailand Focus 2012" in Bangkok and events in provinces.
Virathai noted that next year, the exchange plans to introduce potential medium-sized listed companies to foreign investors, who have invested in the Thai market. Large-sized listed companies would join roadshows, designed to draw investment from investors not familiar with Thailand.
