In the letter, signed by Pramon Suthivongs, the network said that it had no intention to attack anybody. It said the network's committed to promote transparent business practices and close door to all kinds of corruption.
"The network wants to erase the perception that "corruption is acceptable as long as there is benefits to share" from Thai society. We strongly hope that BEC World, as a large-sized organisation, would take part in the anti-corruption movement and enhance credibility of Thai buisnesses," Pramon said.
The network encompasses a number of buisness entities, who consider that corruption is the origin of political instability in the past few years which has dragged the Thai economy behind.
The letter followed demands by professional organisations for embattled media personality Sorrayuth Suthassanachinda to step down after the National Anti-Corruption Commission decided to take legal action against him for alleged embezzlement.
Sorrayuth recently resigned from the Thai Journalists Association (TJA). Full membership in the TJA is reserved for full-time print-media journalists. Sorrayuth became an associate member of the TJA when he quit The Nation newspaper to work in television in 2004.
