Prapat as SRT's new governor

Prapat Chongsanguan, the former governor of Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand and a key member of Pheu Thai Party, has won the greenlight to become the next governor of loss-making State Railway of Thailand (SRT).

While Prapat won the highest score from the selection committee, SRT deputy governor Pakorn Tangchetsakao came the second place.
Deputy Permanent Secretary for Transport Soithip Trisuddhi, as chairman of SRT, said that the board on October 8 approved Prapat's nomination and would soon arrange the negotiation on remuneration.
"We expect the sign the employment contract in November," she said.
As the governor, Prapat's urgent job is to ensure progress in the Red Line train project as well as the double-trail rail development.

He would be in office for four years. He aimed to restore confidence in the state agency as well as morale among employees. SRT has the potential to strengthen the economic competitiveness, he said.
