Nation Group net profit climbs 90% in Jan-Sept

Nation Multimedia Group (NMG) posted a third-quarter net profit of Bt51.95 million, as sale revenue increased from all business channels.

The quarterly earning, up from Bt35.19 million in the same period a year ago, allowed the company to achieve a 90-per-cent increase in nine-month net profit.
In January-September, earnings reached Bt136.9 million, against Bt71.94 million in the same period last year.
NMG launched Krungthep Turakij TV in September.
NMG president Duangkamol Chotana expected steady growth in the fourth quarter due to the continued political stability and a robust economy. The last quarter is also usually the high season for ad revenue.
This year, the situation looks better than at the end of 2011, which saw devastating flooding. Duangkamol thus maintained confidence that this year’s revenue would grow 15-20 per cent and that growth momentum would continue next year.
“The nine-month performance is satisfactory, particularly in the third quarter, which saw solid domestic demand. In the fourth quarter, we should achieve the target due to continued economic growth and political stability. Sales revenue should expand further,” she said.
Sales revenue in the first nine months rose by 13 per cent to Bt2.29 billion. Total advertising revenue went up 15 per cent, with print advertising rising 15 per cent; TV and radio ads rising 10 per cent; and services and advertising on new media rising 44 per cent. Print distribution revenue inched up by 3 per cent.
Sale and administrative expenses in the period went up 14 per cent on year, in line with business growth. Yet, higher traffic management efficiency capped transport cost increases at 11 per cent.
“As accumulated debt is cleared, the company has regained financial strength. At the end of the third quarter, we booked accumulated net profit of Bt89 million,” Duangkamol said.
