CP, Berli Jucker chiefs honoured with leadership

Besides Dhanin Chearavanont, chairman and chief executive of Charoen Pokphand Group, Aswin Techajareonvikul, president and CEO of Berli Jucker, was among the Thai businessmen making their names known internationally as winners of CNBC's 11th Asia Business

While Dhanin was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award for CP’s successful expansion into many countries over the past decades, Aswin was named Thailand Business Leader in recognition of his leadership in domestic and international markets.
Upon receiving his award, Dhanin, 73, vowed to pursue his vision to make CP Group “the kitchen of the world”, which has won the faithful support of 280,000 employees around the world.
For his part, Aswin said: “I’m here on behalf of all employees.”
Since taking office in 2008, Aswin has driven continued expansion at home and overseas. In August, he said the contribution from Asean countries to Berli Jucker's revenue would rise from 15 per cent to 30-40 per cent in three years.
The awards were presented on Friday night at a ceremony to be broadcast in Asia, Europe and North America. Attending the ceremony were leading figures from Thailand’s business scene including Charamporn Jotikasthira, president of the Stock Exchange of Thailand, and Thirapong Chansiri, president of Thai Union Frozen Products. They mingled with leading businesspeople from several countries across Asia and the Pacific.
Named Asia Business Leader for this year is N Chandrasekaran, managing director and CEO of Tata Consultancy Services, for his ability to retain loyal customers, inspire and motivate staff and make his vision for the company a reality.
The Asia Innovator Award went to M S Unnikrishnan, managing director and CEO of Thermax, for his inventive thinking in business and his leadership in an organisation that has innovation at its core. The Corporate Social Responsibility Award went to Choo Chiau Beng of Keppel Corp in honour of his devotion to societal and environmental issues.
The Talent Management Award was presented to Lee Suk-chae of South Korea’s KT Corp for his personal involvement in supporting and nurturing the next generation of leaders.
“The 11th annual CNBC Asia Business Leaders Awards celebrate and recognise leaders who have helped shape the Asian economy and those who will continue to impact the Asia story in the years ahead,” said Satpal Brainch, president and managing director of CNBC International, a provider of business-focused television programming.
