First Asean named regional chief of Credit Suisse

Credit Suisse Southeast Asia CEO Helman Sitohang is named Head of the Investment Bank for Asia Pacific, to strengthen the positioning of Credit Suisse's equities, fixed income and investment banking businesses in the region.

 

With this appointment, Credit Suisse is now the only global investment bank led by a Southeast Asian who will be based in Singapore, reflecting the importance the bank places on Southeast Asia. 
Credit Suisse recently supported Asia Aviation’s US$229 million initial public offering and Bumrungrad Hospital’s $723 million block sale. Year-to-date, Credit Suisse has raised more than US$1.124 billion for clients in Thailand, ranking #1 with 34 percent of the equity capital markets underwriting market share. Credit Suisse has also ranked #1 by equity trading market share in Thailand among international brokers since 2006.
Indonesian-born Sitohang, with degree from Bandung Institute of Technology, joined Credit Suisse in 1998 in Indonesia. During his 14-year career, Sitohang has worked on numerous landmark transactions across asset classes and products for clients in Asia Pacific and globally. He was appointed co-Head of Investment Banking Department Asia Pacific in 2009 and CEO for Southeast Asia in 2010.
