Following its official launch in Thailand, the website, where people to list, discover, and book unique accommodations around the world, forecasts more than 500 bookings for New Year's Eve.
The company said that Bangkok is still the most popular city in Thailand for travelers for New Year’s Eve, followed by Phuket, Chiang Mai and Koh Samui.
"Thailand is a premier travel destination in the world especially during holiday season. The response from travellers is fantastic, and we expect Thailand to be a major growth area for our business in the future," said Nathan Blecharczyk, co-founder and chief technology officer of Airbnb.
This year, Airbnb has over 140,000 nights booked for New Year’s Eve in 192 countries around the world.
Airbnb is currently the world market leader in unique, short-term accommodations. In June the company celebrated 10 million nights booked, and on any given night, over 50,000 guests are staying at Airbnb accommodations around the world. Airbnb has over 1300 listings in Thailand, including 400 in Bangkok, 250 in Phuket, and 170 in Koh Samui.
