November exports up by 24.53%

Thailand's export recovery continued in November, when the export value rose 24.53 per cent on year after the 16 per cent increase in October.

According to the Commerce Ministry's data, in November the export value hit US$19.56 billion while import bills expanded 24.53 per cent to $21 billion, resulting in a trade deficit of $1.45 billion.
Shipments in the first 11 months were barely up by only 2.32 per cent year on year to US$211.4 billion. Imports rose 8.55 per cent to $227.12 billion, causing a large trade deficit of $15.7 billion.
The ministry cited the euro zone crisis and slowdown in China and Japan as the main factors pressuring Thailand's exports in November. Aside, some export industries of Thailand are still struggling to recover after last year's floods.
It is convinced that the 2012 exports would expand by 4.5-5 per cent, before accelerating near 10 per cent next year despite the global uncertainties.
