Gold to approach $1,900, Kasikorn says

Kasikorn Asset Management expects the gold price in 2013 will be in the range of US$1,850-$1,900 per ounce, said Navin Intharasombat, first senior vice president.

The current price is volatile because investors are worried about the United States’ pending "fiscal cliff". Moreover, the price sagged by 5 per cent within one month as people sold gold for spending during the New Year festival, he said.

Navin said this volatility would be short-term, because the volume of gold exchange-traded funds was rising steadily, so the company believes gold remains an interesting investment that will generate healthy returns.

Kasikorn Asset Management plans to pay a dividend on its K-Gold, the country’s largest gold fund, at Bt0.20 per unit or a total of Bt300 million.
