The Nation to expand regional coverage as part of new look in the New Year

Dear readers, The New Year brings with it a revamped Nation, designed to reflect Thailand's growing thirst for regional information ahead of the launch of the Asean Economic Community.

Under this new concept, The Nation is committed to presenting more articles with regional political, economic and social angles to provide more insights to Thai readers. We will have two pages of Asean-related news on weekdays, which will include “things to know” in Myanmar – the Asean member which has just opened its doors to tourism and investment. More articles on Asean with a local flavour will be presented in all sections – National Affairs, Business, XP and Sports.
In this regard, the page layout will be rearranged. Section A will feature local news, Asean news and sports. Section B will feature business news and XP, a mixture of culture and lifestyle articles.
Next year, The Nation and its sister publications will introduce the “iSnap” application, which allows newspaper readers with smart phones or mobile devices to access digital content associated with certain print articles. This will complement our existing digital platforms, which have received warm responses.
We are committed to pursuing coverage of national issues that will dictate the Kingdom’s future and its standing in the international arena. Key topics relating to welfare, climate change, the ageing society and others will be extensively covered to prepare readers for what’s to come in the years ahead. Supported by our “Convergent Newsroom”, The Nation will also remain a source of current news.
It is our hope that the new-look Nation will allow us to better connect with our readers, and that The Nation will remain your trusted companion throughout 2013 and beyond. Most of all, we hope this will serve as a welcome New Year’s gift to all. Happy New Year!
