Bangkok pattaya hospital revenue up 14% to Bt3.2 bn in 2012

Bangkok Pattaya Hospital plans to be foremost in the minds of Thais and Russians residing in Pattaya within three years after showing its best financial results last year.

The Pattaya-based hospital ranked fourth in revenue for private hospitals last year by posting Bt3.2 billion, up 14 per cent over 2011.

Its operating profit margin was 17 per cent and in/out-patient growth was 7 per cent.

Dr Pichit Gungvolkij, a vice president and director, said last week that besides Thai residents, the hospital’s main customers were foreign tourists, mostly Europeans and Russians staying in Pattaya. Russians may surpass the British and Germans into the second spot in the future.

Bangkok Pattaya Hospital projects revenue this year at about Bt3.6 billion, showing only slight growth due to its policy to maintain its medical service fees while improving its service quality in line with the current high cost of living and

economic burden that patients have to bear.

This year, the hospital plans to invest in medical technology via the online procurement of 13 Bt1.5 artificial kidney machines, which are more efficient in eliminating wastes, reducing infection risk and cutting patient’s medical expenses, to meet rising demand.

It would also spend Bt30 million-Bt40 million to develop computer software – Smart ICU – to compile data relating to human life signals in 20 ICU and CCU rooms, as well as Bt20 million to increase infant care units from four to eight units, including essential medical equipment and various tools.

To cater to growing demand from foreign visitors, the hospital plans to expand its capability in providing medical treatment for heart, bone, memory and fertility-related illness and diseases this year.

The hospital plans to upgrade its facilities and services within three years. It is aiming for at least Bt5 billion in revenue based on the rising number of foreign patients as the Asean Economic Community approaches in 2015. Patients from Asean nations, especially Indonesia, which has a large population, should also increase, he added.
